This is my first review ever, but I felt compelled to write because had I known the nature of the pictures in this book, I would have not purchased this item. I bought this for my toddler who loves to paint, and I assumed that this paint book would be filled with pictures of bunnies, chicks, Easter baskets, and other springtime images. Instead several of the pages featured a very angry looking bunny named “Evil Irontail.” Why oh why would there be something “evil” in an Easter coloring book for children? These photos would give him nightmares. “Why is the Easter bunny angry, mommy?” I ripped the disturbing bunny pages from the book and let him enjoy the rest, but I was really disappointed.

We bought these painting booklets for the kids Easter baskets. The booklet has a story with words at the bottom of each picture. Would’ve been a great thing except the storyline is terrible for young kids AND Easter! It’s about an evil bunny who tries to ruin Easter... and the pictures are of an angry rough looking bunny... not what I had pictured for my 2 and 4 year olds. I ended up throwing the books away but we did keep the paint...

Haven't gotten to paint it yet with my daughter but it being one design per page makes it pretty nice. Exactly as described.

Didn’t realize it was also a storybook. Pictures are hard to paint and not really made for watercolor.

Perfect for my niece who is six & my nephew who is 3. They love the painting book!

My 6 year old daughter loved this in her Easter basket this past Sunday. Good find.

To start with, I've bought a few KH novels at this point and they've all had cosmetic wear and tear. It upsets me because I spend money on these and these books sometimes arrive with some noticeable wear and tear. That's my honest feedback, amazon, so if you don't post this review then that's ludicrous. My complaint fits the criteria for "honest feedback", as I am, need I remind you, an actual customer who bought the book.Other than that, in regards to the actual book. It's nearly identical to the game, so unless you have interest in reading one long recap of the story, you probably wont find anything here to enjoy unless you're a big BBS fan, which I happen to be.

This book has a lot of good information. However, it is very academic, so it's a bit dry to read.

Don Little offers a needed examination of discipleship among those from a Muslim background in Effective Discipling in Muslim Communities. The book is divided into two parts "Biblical, Historical, and Missiological Foundations for Discipling Believers from Muslim Backgrounds" and "Seasoned Practices in Discipling Believers from Muslim Backgrounds." The first three chapters address conversion and discipleship as presented in Scripture. Little examines Paul's writings and then Luke and Acts in a fascinating look at biblical doctrine and practice.The chapter on conversion was a delight as Little challenges common perceptions of "being saved" and decisions with the biblical example of transformation, obedience, and discipleship. The following two chapters are an examination of discipleship in Scripture, but reveal that Little clearly has certain focuses, emphases, and points which he desires to make. A thorough and balanced examination of Scripture requires a different book, but Little's introduction of discipleship through an overview of Scripture provides a needed foundation.The weight of Little's perspective continues to determine the analysis in his chapters on Contemporary Western Evangelical Approaches and Historical Understandings of Spiritual Formation in the Church. Little addresses popular literature on discipleship in a way similar to his examination of Scripture. He addresses perceived strengths and weaknesses in both approaches before turning to the specific topic of discipleship in Muslim contexts.I was immensely pleased to see Little devote an entire chapter to "Contextualization and Discipleship Within Muslim Communities," and further that he provides a strong critique of Insider Movements and their methodology. While there isn't space to detail the controversies immersing the evangelism of the Muslim world or Insider Movements, it is an issue that every book on evangelism or discipleship in a Muslim context needs to address. At this time it seems that the overwhelming majority of literature on reaching Muslims for Christ endorses Insider Movement methodology or is silent on the controversy. I was actually surprised that Little not only addresses the issue, but does so clearly, stating, "I believe that unhelpful syncretism is more likely to develop, because it is already there in the theoretical foundations, when one adopts an insider approach" p. 116. He goes on to address specific issues stating, "In my experience it is quite rare to find people who have chosen to believe in and obey Christ who want to continue to call themselves Muslims or continue to attend a mosque" p. 118. These statements are to be applauded; however, Little goes on to quote and endorse several missionaries who are indeed involved in promoting Insider Movement methodologies. One of the difficulties in these controversies is that each individual draws lines at different practices and assigns labels and definitions differently. For some, Little's chapter will be shocking, for those like myself it will be a welcome but somewhat unsatisfying entry in the Insider Movement debate.Little goes on to propose his own model of discipleship, a somewhat complex scheme he calls the Living Pyramid Model. This model, while not offering a practical program or method presents what Little believes to be a balanced, scriptural approach to discipleship in general.The majority of the book then begins as Little presents and analyzes content provided by 75 disciple-makers involved in discipling BMB's (believers from a Muslim background). Little interviewed each subject (he presents detailed statistics regarding who was interviewed) with the following questions:What would you give as a quick definition of discipling? What is it?How does a believer grow? What is the process that makes growth happen?How do you disciple individuals in a collective culture? Any other comment you want to make?These responses were then analysed and cross-referenced in a number of different ways leading to a fascinating series of charts documenting the frequency of certain answers and comparing and contrasting the wisdom and emphases these disciple-makers had to offer. The interviews provide a wealth of information and chapter after chapter of fascinating discussion. The information retrieved from these interviews are invaluable and make the book and the discussion within worth the study of every Christian worker among Muslims.I will be referencing these sections again and again, and found myself informed and appropriately challenged by the varying perspectives presented within the study. While I often wished that Scripture was a greater part of the discussion and analysis, these studies provide the reader with their own opportunity to apply scriptural authority to the discussion. Little's strong perspective does not persevere here, and he reports and analyzes the findings in a clear and objective way; so much so that it is almost jarring when the conclusion of the book abandons the interviews and the objective tone.Little's concluding chapter is somewhat puzzling as he moves away from the content of the interviews and provides a chapter extolling the virtues of Eugene Peterson's work and perspective and challenging the principles and practices of Church Planting Movements ( of which a number of those interviewed were involved). As a practitioner of Church Planting Movement methodologies I appreciated the challenge, but felt that Little mis-characterized the emphases of what he was critiquing. Again, the length of this review does not permit me to delve into a critique; suffice to say I appreciate Little's emphasis on faithfulness and perseverance with those God has given us to Shepherd while disagreeing with his perception that many focus on speed.Effective Discipling in Muslim Communities presents a somewhat uneven study of discipleship in general and discipleship in Muslim contexts. It excels while discussing specific issues present in discipling Muslims, and the material present in the appendices, charts, and interviews is well worth the study and purchase of the book. I would not hesitate to recommend it to all of my brothers and sisters working within Muslim contexts and am immensely grateful for Don Little's research. Little's own views on discipleship may have been better suited for a different book, or may have been more gently integrated into the whole. The book remains a valuable resource and discussion as Christians across the world find themselves discipling their brothers and sisters from a Muslim background.

In his new book, Effective Discipling in Muslim Communities, Don Little has given us a wide-ranging and very helpful resource.Little draws from his own experience as well as extensive interviews with experienced disciplers of Muslims, both Western and non-Western, from both Muslim backgrounds and Christian backgrounds. He includes insights from Scripture and historical approaches to spiritual formation to develop a sound and useful model for discipleship.He demonstrates how the individualistic approaches to discipleship most common among evangelicals in the 20th century likely contributed to failure in effectively discipling the majority of Muslims who came to initial faith in Christ during that century. He demonstrates a need for, then presents a pattern for, processes more effective in discipling Muslims who come to faith in Christ.Little shows the vital importance of community and relationship for the nurture of Muslims who come to faith, then applies these insights to a host of challenging areas, such as identity, persecution, demonic oppression, money, family, relationship to existing churches, and the role of expatriates. This is a book well worth reading for anyone working to see Muslims come to and endure in saving faith in the Lord Jesus Christ.

I found this book to be very informative and interesting. It speaks of discipleship and its many challenges in the context of Muslim communities. Whether you are living as an expat or around communities of others, this book presented challenges and successes when it comes to discipleship. The various stories were insightful and worth the read.The book is filled with real stories from around the globe. Again, I found it to be interesting information. I especially liked the section about Paul's understanding of discipleship and Spiritual growth along with Discipleship in the early church. These sections gave basic overviews of what the Bible says about discipleship.The thing that moved me the most about this book was the stress on the need for discipleship. Often people think sharing the gospel is enough but it is not. If people receive the truth of the gospel they will need someone around them who can help explain the truths of the Bible and how to live it out.I received a copy of this book from the publisher for the purpose of an honest review.

Fantastic book! I discovered Yoshida's work completely by accident & was immediately taken with it. Pinned a bunch of his work on Pinterest, then discovered this book. Took a chance on it & it turns out to be worth every penny. Beautiful reproductions of his prints, many taking up a whole page. Text in the book is in both Japanese & English - I appreciate being able to read weekdays in the book. It's not overly text heavy though; the majority of the book is artwork. In the back is a detailed look at the woodcut print process, which is fascinating.If you appreciate Yoshida's work, or Japanese woodcut printing in general, this is well worth the expense.

This book could not be more thorough. I am an art student studying Hiroshi's work and I am glad that I have a book that I can rely on.The text is in both Japanese and English. Reproductions of the work are gorgeous - all high res and beautifully printed. The book begins with a few writings about the artist by colleagues and family, followed by his entire collection of prints and paintings in chronological order complete with titles, dates and dimensions. Notable pieces are accompanied by brief descriptions.Appendices include a documentation of his personal history from birth to death, which includes his exhibitions, travel destinations, thumbnail images of his work, travel photography etc. In the back is a catalogue of all his works, a bibliography, and a list of his works in public collections.AND for the cherry on top, there is a detailed step-by-step description - with corresponding photographs - of Hiroshi's printing process.Really couldn't ask for more. Thank you for an outstanding book that is great for both reference and enjoyment.

I fell in love with Yoshida Hiroshi's works very recently. They are beautiful and this book does them justice - the colors are gorgeous and the pictures are perfectly clear.Only problem: I wish the prints were bigger. It is a very complete collection, but many of the prints are 2 - 4 to a page, and I really wished there were more full page ones. Otherwise, divine.

Steeped in traditional Japanese culture and trained early in Western art techniques, Hiroshi Yoshida (1876-1950) combined these two sensibilities to revive and renew the ancient art of Japanese woodblock printing on the verge of its disappearance as Japan embraced modernization at the beginning of the 20th century. This book is a comprehensive introduction for those new to Yoshida's work, and a valuable aid to the sophisticated print collector. Excellent color reproductions of 259 woodblock prints plus 20 works in other media shine in a generous and uncluttered format that encourages leisurely enjoyment of each masterpiece. The cosmopolitan Yoshida recorded his travels in India, China, Korea and the United States in his art. A passionate mountaineer, Yoshida translated sketches from his climbing expeditions into stunning prints, in such series as "Twelve Scenes in the Japan Alps." He also captured scenes of Japan's disappearing traditional life in evocative prints such as "Honest Grocery", "A Small Restaurant at Night" and "Farmhouse." In perhaps his greatest works, Yoshida combines his skill in rendering both the monumental and the domestic to show that human existence is at once small and precious. He uses vast mountain landscapes as backdrops for intimate groups of climbers gathered around evening fires or sheltered in tents or caves as they sing and tell stories. Text and captions are in both English and Japanese. Inclusions of full margins on each print reproduction permits study of Japanese and English titles, signatures, dates and seals. A chronological survey of the prints, an illustrated artistic and personal biography, memoirs by Yoshida's artist sons and short essays on Yoshida's career round out this lovely book.

This is a beautiful book! One downside-as mentioned by another customer, many of the prints are quite small, like 4 to a page. I wish I could see them in a larger format. However, books with Yoshidas works are super hard to find, and the quality is very good.

As a resource for printmakers, or anyone interested in printmaking, this book fulfils all my criteria. No need to read the text, although the story of his life and work practices is interesting, all the information I need to be enthralled, delighted, inspired and overwhelmed is contained in the beautiful reproductions of his works. This is a sumptuous book that I can only look at for awhile before I have to rush off and do some printmaking. Highly recommended and greatly treasured by me.
