I would definitely recommend this book to ANYONE who likes thrillers -- although this book is listed in the YA section it really is for all ages. The main characters are a group of five teenagers who feel like oddballs -- each one has something weird about them that makes them feel like they do not fit in with the normal kids. Because of this, they are brought together to help solve a huge mystery surrounding their town. the book had a psychic element to the story as well which is always interesting. The ending has a great twist that you will not see coming!The Lost Causes is an exciting edge of your seat, page-turning thriller that I read over a 2 day span - I literally couldn't put it down. The book is so well written it is like seeing a movie in your head as you read. In fact, I can see this turning into a TV series or movie.
I loved this book!!! It was a refreshing book for me in the YA genre. I've read quite a few YA books, and I enjoyed that this book wasn't about vampires or werewolves. I fell in love with these authors when I read their Georgetown Academy series, so it was great to see another book from them. I liked the supernatural elements to this book, as well as, the FBI involvement. I think this book speaks to a lot of different people in a wide variety of ways. There are many current societal themes and traditional coming of age worries throughout the book. There's something for everyone or at least something you can relate to experiencing/experienced. I won't give anything away...but I did not see the ending coming. I can only hope this book will turn into a series, I would love to read about more adventures these characters have.
The Lost Causes is a must read, could not put it down. The authors have drawn five well-developed characters ( the "lost causes"), who all have weaknesses. Their faults turn into strengths under the effects of an experimental drug administered to them unknowingly by the FBI. The characters face numerous tense situations as the unpredictable plot unwinds. The authors add depth to these protagonists by the way in which they work together to solve some mysteries surrounding their community. The book contains all the ingredients for a successful thriller, drama, conflict, romance, and suspense. The cliffhanger ending provided a great surprise, and begs for a sequel.
I just completed reading The Lost Causes by @itsjessandlyss, aka Jessica Etting and Alyssa Schwartz. This was a book I had been.curious about, and loaded it onto my Kindle before coming to Puerto Rico. I'm glad I did.ðŸ‘ðŸ‘What happens when you take the Brat Pack from the Breakfast Club, stir in a psychic-ability-causing serum, and send them to solve a murder case with the FBI? Read this book and find out! I'm not telling, but you will enjoy the ride.ðŸ‘ðŸ‘My Rating: 4.25/5 stars
Loved this book and hoping it is the first of many more to come! Although intended for young adults, this is a book for all who enjoy the mystery/suspense genre. Looking forward to reading more from these co-authors!
A very fun read that is well crafted and well thought out. The characters are interesting and the authors caught much of the angst of the teen years. Loved that the outcasts and nerds were made to shine.
A real page turner. Excellent book. Love this author.
This is a really good book. We have in in my middle school library and it was so good, I ordered it for my son.
