These include the former colonial power Belgium, the superpowers the USA and the then USSR that were locked in the Cold war the time.The book explains how Lumumba mobilised the Congolese people to vote him Prime Minister of the country and his eventually overthrow from power by Colonel Joseph Mobutu and his tragic assassination.Lumumba was assassinated in January 1961 and to date controversy and debates rage as to who was responsible for the killing. The DRC has been unstable since the demise of Lumumba. However, his ideals still inspire the Congolese people in their quest for peace, justice and prosperity.
