Chris L. Demarest says: "A few years ago my wife and I brought our two-year-old son to an open house at a fire station. Ethan loved the big red fire trucks and I became totally enthralled not only by the trucks, but by the idea of serving my community as a firefighter. "Being a full-time illustrator, I work at home, so I could be on call at any time. I took a lot of classes, passed some hard tests, and became a volunteer firefighter. I am on call for the Meriden, New Hampshire, station, where I now get to drive those big red fire trucks. "I created Firefighters A to Z to show Ethan and other children what firefighting is really like. It can be an exciting job, but it's also a dangerous one. I hope to convey that through this book."

I bought this for my nephew for his birthday and it was a very good buy, his dad is a firefighter so i knew he would LOVE this! It is very colorful and bright, it teaches letters while telling a story, i definitely recommend this for a 5 yr old or younger.
As a rare combination of elementary school teacher and volunteer firefighter, I'm always looking for children's books that accurately depict what firefighters do (no firehouse dogs! not rescuing cats out of trees!). This book is accurate, engaging, brilliantly tied to the alphabet, and started several interesting conversations with my class about firefighting tactics like ventilation and forcible entry. And I was so proud to see the looks on the local firefighters' faces last spring when my first graders asked where the K-tool was!
My three year old can't get enough of this book! We found him correcting some of the more basic firefighter/fire truck kids books. After reading this book, he's the pre-school version of a firefighting expert!! Great, and very detailed!

Purchased for my daughter's family for Christmas (her husband is a fireman), this Chris Demarest book is awesome! Love the terms A-Z and great illustrations! Chris is a very talented author and illustrator.
Perfect condition. Love this book. The illustration and information about firefighters is thorough. Lots of rhyme too. I know students will love it. An early childhood must!
My husband is a firefighter (36 yrs and still going) and was skeptical when I bought these for g'kid Christmas coming up. He was very impressed with the content and put his "stamp" of approval on them =)
