Jules R. Benjamin, formerly professor of history at the University of Rochester, is Emeritus professor at Ithaca College. He taught for over thirty years. He is the author of several books and articles, including The United States and Cuba: Hegemony and Dependent Development, 1880-1934 and The United States and the Origins of the Cuban Revolution: An Empire of Liberty in an Age of National Liberation. His current research focuses on contemporary international relations.

This is the best there is of its kind. Perhaps after twelve previous editions it ought to be. Mr. Benjamin knows everything there is to know about researching and writing history, and he leaves nothing out in this book. I use it in a seminar for graduating history majors, and it covers absolutely everything they will ever need to know in order to do research for an article or a book. I used an earlier edition many years ago, but, excellent as it was, the 13th leaves it in the dust. This is the ultimate computer-age manual for its purposes, and it's extremely well written. Graduate students should use it also.
Came in very good shape and was at a great value.
great book for History Majors at any school no matter college or university. Basically filled with a ton of useful information written in basic, plain English.
It's a textbook.
Great introductory guide, but the price seemed a bit high for the length of the book.
